Won't sleep

It doesn't matter what i do lately Leiland won't sleep. I believe his reflux is bothering him but the new medication we started isn't working. I actually stopped it because he was puking more and much fussier. Poor guy gets no relief.

Yesterday he slept a combined total of 2 hours and 20 minutes all day. That at one nap would be good but he needs more than that.

So we have been up since 6 this morning and we fly tomorrow so i am letting him sleep on the boob for now. He just needs some rest.

Great blog post I read today

Funny boy

Today Leiland pulled down my shirt opened his mouth and dive bombed me

Then he tried using my shirt to pull up to a standing position.

Love watching him learn.

Teeth Soon?

Today I was looking in Leilands mouth, and you can both see and feel his top two teeth through his gums. But its weird (to me at least) because they look like they are coming through the front rather than coming out the edge of the gums... make sense?

We will see what happens with it, but now we keep singing "All I want for Christmas are my two from teeth"

Applesauce

Today I made Leiland some organic applesauce with 3 gala apples. I used the beaba babycook and the 3 apples produced about 8 servings of applesauce. I froze all but two. Today Leiland got to try his applesauce for the first time and man did we get a funny face. He swallowed it but his face was not one of love. He only ate about 1/2 the 1oz serving and got better but still wasn't too sure about it.
This week Leiland has leanred how to pass a toy from one had to the next - and I love watching him learn

Crossing Fingers

First - Leiland is sick with a cold

Last night he was in bed maybe an hour and I saw on the monitor he woke up, he looked around a few time then laid his head back down to sleep. He popped back up once more but not a peep. Then tonight I went to grab some dinner and get gas in the car. Tim said while I was gone he looked around a ton, roughly 10 minutes, then put his hand in his mouth and went back to sleep.

I'm not sure if its because the humidifier is in there making a good amount of background noise, or if he is just learning - but I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is a change for the better.

5 Month Update

Holy smokes time sure flies by.

Tricks:
Rolls back to belly and belly to back. It just clicked on day and now anytime you lay him down he rolls to his belly. Going to his back isn't as easy on him.
Fake coughing still
Sitting up in everything
Trying to stand in the bumbo - bad idea Pulls to standing when sitting in my lap in the chair. He uses the arm of the chair to pull up.
Sitting unassisted for short periods
Tries sitting up when laying with the slightest incline (like head in a pillow)

Likes:
Highchair, exersaucer, bath tub, cell phone, Tivo remote, hair, faces, all the pets, people, his new little tikes swing, and food.

Dislikes:
Baby Swing, bumbo, rocking, naps, pacifiers, and bottles. Oh and still the car seat.

Wearing a size 6-9 months but all onesie styles are too short and he needs a 12 month. Weighs 17.8 pounds, 26.75 inches, and wearing size 3 huggies diaper. His thighs are so rolly-poly and his knees disappear. His hair is getting longer but is a super fine super soft peach fuz. His eyes still cross a little but are 100% brown now and he right foot still turns in some.

Funny things he does:
Talks with his hands, blanket, your hands, and now the boob in his mouth. He is most talkative when chewing something. Its so cute.
When you help him jump be sinks down and let's you do all the work. He loves it but doesn't understand jumping yet.
There are often times he dive bombs you, mouth wide open - just to chew whatever he gets his mouth on.

Leiland is now a daddy's boy. The other night Tim was .ate so I was swinging Leiland to try to keep him up. He was dozing in and out of sleep till Tim got home. When I grabbed him to put him to bed he was still in his zombie daze. We sat in the chair to rock and he caught a glimpse of Tim, smiled and popped right up. He was so delighted Tim was home.

Still not napping well but improving.

Weather

Saturday it was 91 degrees, the week before it was in the hundreds still. Today... 52 degrees out with crazy winds gusting at 34 mph. But next week it shows it should be 89 again. I am actually preferring the cooler weather when possible. Leiland looks so cute in his fall wardrobe.

Sleep Training

Ok, so we have been having nap issues for about 3 months now. I know way longer then we need to. Anyway, I started reading the no cry sleep solution, but didn't get a whole lot of spare time. I think I got the gist of it, so we are trying to make some pregress. He was a little out of sorts at night for the past month or so, but it seems to be getting back on track, so we will start trying and hope we make progress before our next vacation in a few weeks.

Today he woke at 6:30, ate, and we got up for the day at 7. We laid in my bed to play with the pups a little and that made him happy. He started getting cranky at 8:15 but I got him to hold out till 9. We sand some songs downstairs till he was relaxed, then went to his room and sang some to the radio till he fell asleep. I placed him in the crib within a minute of him closing his eyes. I turned the radio down but kept it playing along with the noise machine. After 35 minutes of sleeping he started stirring, this is typical. So I quickly went upstairs to get him before he fully woke up. I walked/ rocked him for maybe 4 minutes and he was back to sleep. Its now been 2 hours since he went down and he is starting to toss (has been for 15 minutes) but he hasn't woke up yet. We will try this again later today at the next nap. I really hope getting to him before he fully wakes will help him learn to sleep longer stretches.

Ouch

So Leiland has this new thing he does. He has been biting down on me when nursing, but it was not all the time, so I think he was starting to get pressures from his teeth coming down. Not a huge deal, I usually take him off (and sometimes he screams at me for it). Anyway, now he has started pinching my breast while nursing. Ouch. And recently he decided to combine the two. He will pinch my breast and push away, then chomp down and pull back. He isn't refusing the boob or anything but he keeps doing this. I of course keep telling him no pinching, no biting, take him off. I have even tried holding his hand, but that makes him mad instead. So yeah, lots of fun.

Realization

Leiland finally realized he could roll from his back to his belly. He is getting pretty efficient with it too. Its so cute to watch him and see it finally click for him. I have a video too.
