Teething and potty training updates

The past few days Leiland has been kind of warm and yesterday he wasn't eating much at all. I also noticed yesterday morning he was chewing his fingers, hands, and his arm all morning. So last night I look in his mouth and sure enough the very last molar has one tiny speck that is through. I am amazed his mood has been so good. We have a bit to go before its "through" but its started. And I am praying it comes through before this baby arrives.

Potty training isn't anything we've been working on though. With baby just around the corner I don't feel like its smart to push it right now. BUT the other day he wanted to be nakid - fine. Well he peed in the potty. He started to pee on the floor but stopped, told me, and went to finish on the potty. The next day at night we took pants off because they were sagging, so was his diaper. So we took that off. But he wanted to slide so I put undies on him. He didn't want to go pee. He peed while brushing his teeth (running water) and peed a lot in those undies. No biggie - accidents is a way to learn. The next day he got naked when he woke and peed in the potty twice before nap. I didn't push it that afternoon. Then Wednesday he got naked after waking up, peed once and played. Before lunch I told him to go pee while I made lunch. He did with no fight then put undies on so his bum wasn't cold sitting at his chair. He ate lunch then went to play. I noticed him crouching behind the rocking chair and I asked if he had to pee. He said no he was pooping. I said don't poop in your undies put it in the potty. It seemed to click and he ran to the bathroom to go. I'm happy I caught him before he pooped in his underwear. Pulled them off and he pooped out a tiny turd. He was so proud and stood up. I told him he had to sit and put all his poops out. So he took a minute (too busy trying to see the one he got out) but eventually kicked me out. He pooped (a ton) and called me in when he was finished. I was SO proud of him. I told him he could have ice cream for pooping in the potty, but he didn't want that he wanted candy. He was all excited because the day before we bought more jelly beans and now had more pink ones lol. His favorite. So after pooping he put a diaper on and took a nap. When he woke dry I was SO excited and stripped him waist down. He was so mad and had a small fit about it. Finally 40 minutes later I convinced him to sit on the potty and he peed again!!! We were both so excited. A little bit later he asked for pizza for dinner. How could I deny a kid who went potty so well. I kept telling him how proud I was so YES he could have pizza for dinner. SO I put a diaper on him to go get pizza. When we got home he was dry so I took it off and put undies back on him again. He peed once more before bed and I was SO excited. I let him watch finding Nemo in my room and sleep in my bed.

I tried making a huge deal out of it because really it is. He had a diaper all day Thursday because we were gone all day, and today he seems like he could be getting sick. I am still not pushing it, but really excited he is getting the hint. So I am thinking maybe a month or so after baby comes (once we've all adjusted) we will take away diapers and spend a few days naked making it work. But right now we are gone so often for appts I am not ready to push it 100%. 

Potty training

2 years 8 months old (32 months)

Potty training is in full effect. We took a trip January 1st-14th and right before Leiland started wanting to be naked more. So in the morning instead if changing his diaper I let him be naked. Day 1 he held all his pee till nap time so he needed a diaper on. Day 2 we got naked sooner and he peed on the potty before nap. I didn't push it anymore after that. I can't remember if we had a third day he went naked but I think we had another day and he peed again before nap. 

We just got back from our trip and I intended to wait till Tim was back to work, but Leiland keeps asking to be naked so I let him. The little frog potty is in the living room so he can go as he pleases. One day I offered for him to pee and he tried but didn't go so went to play more. Then I saw a funny look from him and told him to go try to per on the potty. He tried and went. Yay. Another day he sat to try and didn't go so back to playing. Then he went over by himself and peed on the potty again. He's definitely starting to get it. 

So today I didn't push it but got him naked after he'd been up a bit. He eventually went pee on the potty after numerous times of me asking him to try. Yay he went. So then he took a nap bi told him not to per in his diaper when he woke and he said ok. So when he woke I could feel he was dry so I told him again not to pee in the diaper. We came downstairs and I took his pants and diaper off. He was really mad about it because he was still cranky. So we played and I asked over and over if he had to go. He was crossing his legs and did a little dance at one point. I tried sitting him on the potty because he's been almost an hour and he just cried and taught me. So I sat down and said I'd play with him again after he tried to go pee. So maybe 5 minutes later he jumped up because he'd started to pee on the floor. He stopped peeing and he ran over to go on the potty. That is progress from the last time we tried. Last time I caught him 3 times peeing on the floor and ran him to the potty and he wouldn't pee. So this is better. 

This is the first day he has done any naked time after nap. He usually wakes wet in the morning as well as after nap. So we are trying. He can hold it for a couple hours. Yesterday when I tried right after nap the diaper was warm from him just peeing. So today we caught it early. 

Because he seems to be getting it I let him choose from his underwear what he wanted to wear. He was reluctant till daddy got excited about a pair. So he chose woody and buzz. We will see if he pees in it. I know that's part of it so I expect some accidents. 

Because it's winter I'm finding it really hard to let him be naked all day. It's far too cold for that. He doesn't complain but freezes. So hopefully we are making good progress with not doing all day long. He's also been extra cranky so not sure what his deal is but he's not his usual self right now. 

But that's our potty training progress so far. I'm so proud of him. It's later then I wanted but he finally seems to be getting it. 

Potty training

For a while leiland would go pee on the potty. He would run and go a couple diaper changes a day. When we went to Michigan for three weeks he refused to even try. When we got home he no longer had an interest in sitting on the potty. I'll be honest I was bummed. Then that next week we found out we were moving. I wasn't going to push it anymore and the potty was packed up. 

Shortly before moving he started getting a rash and he still has it. It's been a month but we finally have it under control. But in the meantime he fights me so bad about sitting on the potty. He screams no and pushes away. 

So today I was stuck home and thought we'd give it a try. First pee was in his diaper. Second pee in the shower. Then we put underpants on and went downstairs. Every 20 minutes he'd attempt. I croaked him on first with a sucker but he refused to sit. So undies back on and try again in 20. This time I had him sit while I got m&m's. he waited then didn't want to sit anymore. So a little bit later we tried again with candy incentive but still no pee. Shortly after he had an accident. Bummer. So I put a diaper on him, fed him lunch, and took him for a nap. He woke up dry. So we went right to the potty while I got m&m's. he did it he went pee. 

I made a huge deal out of it cheering and jumping. I gave him the sucker he worked hard for and put clean undies on. He helped me pour the pee and flush. I still have the timer set for 20 minutes and we will try again. Hopefully he gets the hang of knowing when it's coming. 

I'm so proud of him. And he looks so stinking cute in his little undies. 

Poor rash

Leilands bum rash got worse again. He is so itchy. So not much potty training happening right now. But when he wants a candy he is willing to sit for a bit. 

Potty day 2

So yesterday I could see leiland needed to poo. So I sat him down and he tried but wanted up. So I pulled over his rocking chair for him to play a toy. He usually poops standing so he tried standing while pushing and yelling no. I felt bad for him. He kept hugging me so he could push. Finally with another push he pooped and peed. He squealed all done and stood up. Yay leiland. So he got to pick a special treat and he wanted chips. So we flushed and washed the potty. Later he had another accident and another pee in the potty. 

This morning he woke up pretty wet but we went right on the potty and he got his m&m's. nothing. So then a little later he stood beside the potty holding himself asking for m's. I rushed to help him and he went pee. 

I had to leave to a dr appt and he stayed with daddy. He peed once then had two accidents. I tried before lunch and he refused to sit. I tried before nap and he freaked out. He woke dry and refused to sit. Crying, yelling no, and pushing away. So I let it be. He peed in his diaper. Just now he was about to poop so I went to put him on the pity and he had a meltdown till his shorts were back on. I'm pretty torn. How hard do I push? Do I let today go and try fresh in the morning?

I don't know. . .

Potty training progress

We aren't potty training but do identify pee and poop when he goes. I also have a potty he sits on both clothed and nakked. Today he yelled poop. So i ran to change him and no poop. He didn't want to sit on the potty so I let it be and a few minutes later he pooped in his diaper. But thats so awesome he identified it before going. Thats progress.
