After

After a little research this is what I found in terms of the 3 hour glucose testing results.

Fasting Blood Glucose
From 70 to 99 mg/dL (3.9 to 5.5 mmol/L) - Normal fasting glucose
From 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) - Impaired fasting glucose(pre-diabetes)
126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L) and above - Diabetes

Gestational Diabetes Diagnostic: OGTT
Target LEVEL
Fasting* 95 mg/dL (5.3 mmol/L)
1 hour after glucose load 180 mg/dL (10.0 mmol/L)
2 hours after glucose load 155 mg/dL (8.6 mmol/L)
3 hours after glucose load 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L)

INDICATION: If two or more values meet or exceed the target level, gestational diabetes is diagnosed.

Glucose test

I called my dr office in hopes that they would have my 3 hour glucose test results. i never got the call when i failed the 1 hour, so I assumed it was up to me to get answers.

So I sat on hold for awhile, and finally got in touch with someone, then had to leave a message.

The nurse just called me back, and I passed, thank goodness. I don't know what the numbers should be, but this is what I got.

Fasting - 75
1 hour - 166
2 hour - 182
3 hour - 133

Its odd to me that my 1 hour is 166 but when I took the 1 hour test the first time, I was at 143.

Again, not sure where the numbers should be, but she said I passed.

Who

Who does the baby look like???

More Fluffy Mail

I got a new diaper in the mail today, and its the most adorable thing ever. I can't wait to use it on him. Look it has little dinosaurs on it.

3 hour glucose test

So this morning I went in and took my 3 hour glucose tolerance test. Not nearly as bad as everyone made it seem. I took a few magazines (baby ones of course) to keep me busy along with a book. The phlebotomist that took the first draw was awesome and I never felt it. I made sure to let her know too. I was given the lemon lime drink again this time, and told I had 5 minutes to complete it. I downed it in less then 1 minute and she was pretty impressed. Then I started reading my book, but I was really tired. So I just sat there and closed m eyes for a few. The second draw stung a tad but needles don't really bother me, so it was fine. Continued reading my books but doing just fine with it all. The next blood draw I got the first phlebotomist again, but she said the last one blew the vein in my arm. So she had to draw from my hand. Again, not bad at all. It tingled a little a few minutes later but not bad. The last draw came quickly because a nice woman and I were chatting in the waiting room for awhile. I got the nice lady again and she used my hand again.

All in all it wasn't too bad one bit. I ate a salad for dinner last night (keeping my sugars down) and went in at 8:40 this morning.

After the test I ran across the street to run in Ross. And of course I spent a little money.

So now I am sitting here ordering some papa johns (deserved after not eating for 17 ½ hours), I am light headed, broke out in a sweat, and very weak feeling. When I started typing this I noticed my hands are really shaky too. I feel like my blood pressure has drastically dropped, but it could be from the low sugar too. I’m decided to eat something real quick, but holy smokes it’s such an uncomfortable feeling all of a sudden. It feels like the first time I gave blood, or when I was dehydrated in basic training.

So I ate two granola bars and my camelbak of water (24 oz) and feel a tiny bit better but still a little off.

Gonna chill on the couch until my pizza gets here.

Maternity photoshoot

Today, I was a very lucky woman. I set up a free photoshoot with a local photographer (who is amazing by the way) and the reason it was free was she recorded the photoshoot for training material at TAoPaN http://www.taopanmag.com/. THe photographer, Ana Brandt was so much fun to work with, and very great explaining everything. She knew I was a photographer since I found her on a photography board we are both members of.

I was a little nervous at first, I always struggle when I first meet people, but the photographer and assistants were very welcoming and helped me to loosen up a bit. I can't wait to see the videos and the video footage, and I think she wil do an amazing job on them. I have never been to a true photo studio. Olan Mills was as fancy as it got when we were kids.

Ill be sure to share the photos when she is all finished with them.

Fluffy Mail

I just got m first order of diapers and I am SO excited about them. I can't believe how soft they are. And they all get to be so tiny. I can't believe how much more excited I am to start clothing this little man. Now we just need him to arrive (in May, not now).

30 week appt

Today was my 30 week appointment and all went mostly good.
BP - 127/82
Weight - 189
HB and fundal height looked good.

I found out I did indeed fail my 1 hour glucose test. Passing is anything under 140 and I got 143. So I have to schedule and go in for my 3 hour glucose test. BLAH. No worries though I think I will pass it.

I saw a different OB this time, and I got a much better feel from him. He was much more interested in helping me feel good about my decision to try natural childbirth.

So I go back in two weeks and I will have an ultrasound that day as well.

And here is a picture, I look like my belly is much lower in this compared to just a week ago.

Whats to come

My kitty found a new place to lay. It only took the pack n play being out for two weeks before he decided to curl up inside it. Its really cute to me. He hasn't bothered the bouncy seat, toy box, or cradle at this point.

Another project

I made this for a fiend of mine, it was my first ever rag quilt and I LOVE it. It was easier then I expected as well.

With the extra material I made a stuffed block. It was hard but turned out better then I expected. Now I just need to learn the right way to sew it shut, otherwise I love it.

1. First I traced a burpie bib style burp cloth from aden and anis. Then I cut out a front a back piece of fabric free hand.

2. Line them up, right sides facing out and pin

3. Sew around the edge, I use about 1/2" seam

I used a navy thread on the bottom and red on top

4. Cut slits in the outside to create the frayed look, making sure not to cut through your seam

5. Wash

41

41
Thats the magic number.

41 inches is how big my stomach is at 29 weeks and 2 days. It is also the point at which my belly has revealed the first sign of a stretch-mark. Im not upset, I actually kinda feel proud of my squiggly little purple red line. And I know there are many more to come.

And for a long time I have noticed my belly button slowly coming to the surface. There is a slight pucker right at the top, and today I got it in a picture.

Valentines Day

So, with Tim being deployed, Valentines Day wasn't a big deal. We don't usually do a whole lot anyway though. But Tim managed to surprise me with the LARGEST bouquet of fruit I have ever seen. It was absolutely wonderful too. I doubt I will be able to finish the whole thing because there is just so much.
