Standing

Leiland is standing so much more lately. He still rocks on his feet a bunch so he doesn't fall but can stand for about 2 minutes before he wants to do something else.

Today he stood up all on his own with nothing to hold onto. Oh man we're getting close.

Poor teeth

Leiland's poor gums. His top two have been rough. The top left is purple again today. Hes been super cranky and still drooling buckets. He also has wanted his teethers a lot more the past few days. Ive found cold cucumbers are great teethers.

CIO day 2 and 3

Yesterday we were gone all day so Leiland napped for an hour twice in the car. At bedtime he nursed and went to bed with little fuss. But i was up 3 or 4 times before putting him in my bed to nurse because we were exhausted. And he was up by 630.

Today i tried but no matter how hard i tried he wouldn't sleep. In the hour i tried i went in every 5 minutes, kept having to lay him down, then he pooped so i had to change him. Put him back in the crib and he freaked. He needed to burp once and spit up once. When it was time to nurse he crashed so i put him in the crib and he woke after 35 minutes still exhausted. We played a little then nursed and slept on me for an hour and a half.

Just like everytime i try day 1 is hood then it gets so much worse.

Walking

The last two days Leiland has gotten much more confident with his walking ability. He willingly will walk 4 or 5 steps on hos own when playing. He also challenges himself to stand when playing and it's adorable. I love looking over and catching him doing it. I cheer for him every time. Today he attempted to walk to me from a good 15 feet away. He also runs when holding on the couch and walks no problem holding just one finger of mine. I have no doubt he will be walking more than crawling by 11 months.

Silly boy wants to run and jump before learning to stand.

Next tooth?

Leiland has been drooling buckets lately and steadily has a low fever. He hasn't been as fussy for a few days now though. Today his top left tooth was a good amount whiter leading me to believe its next. They are slowly moving to the surface and will be through soon enough.

Crying it out - Day 1

So we gave it a go. Leiland's sleeping has gotten really bad and we are all struggling to be pleasant on such little sleep.

Today Leiland started getting tired about 9:30 so we went for a walk to get Leiland to relax. I am not sure what to do as a naptime routine. So after our walk he was very calm and obciously ready for sleep. He wanted to play though. He hadn't nursed yet so I nursed him and he fell asleep. I took him to the crib and he woke up as usual. I tried to calm him and it just wasn't doing anything. So I stepped out for a few minutes at a time and went back in. A couple times I would rock him but he wouldn't settle or just wanted to play, so he went back to the crib. After about 45 minutes he kept standing so I would go lay him back down. I sat and rubbed him to calm him which worked and I rubbed his cheeks with his soft blanket. Once calm I walked out and he cried but didn't stand up. He rolled over and cried off and on for about 10-15 minutes and went to sleep. He slept for 2 hours.

Nighttime came and I nursed him as usual but stopped him after 15-20 minutes and burped him. Took him up to the crib which made him freak out as I expected. I came downstairs for 5 minutes and he sat on his knees crying for the whole time. I went in and laid him down and rubbed his belly, head, legs, and cheeks to calm him. Once calm I walked out (he was holding his teddy) and he cried the loudest. But within a few minutes he stopped crying and went to sleep. He woke 20 minutes later and whimpered for a minute but went back to sleep. Hoping this is a good sign.

Poor teething baby

My poor baby is seriously teething with a fever of 99.6 f, massive amounts of drool (more at night), chewing on everything, and restless nights. Thankfully he does ok during the day. I kind of hope the top two just come through soon so he can feel some relief.

First zoo trip

Pictures to come

Leiland and i drove down to san diego to meet up with Aunt Tina,  Steve, and Nora.  We went to the zoo yesterday and the safari park today. Leiland slept both the whole drive down there and the way home. We also got a membership for all of is for just $99 which is awesome in my book.

At the zoo the first thing he saw and liked was the flamingos. He liked birds in Hawaii and that's still true. He happily sat in the stroller and crawled/ walked around at numerous spots. There was pointing, squealing, petting goats, feeding giraffes, he ate great, loved on Nora, and just loved the animals.

I can't wait to take him to sea world for his birthday and to the zoo again.

Why

Why does Leiland always pick things up and hit himself in the head over and over? He uses the remote, toys, even magnets. He also pulls his hair a lot. I find it oddly strange.

Teething is tough

It seems like as soon as the first tooth popped through Leiland's teething has gotten much worse. Drooling is in mass amounts, chewing on everything, clingy, and periods of just screaming with nothing comforting him. This last week he was sleeping miserably, he had woke with a swollen purple spot on his gums where his top tooth will come through, that went away and he started sleeping better, then yesterday it returned. After lunch Leiland became miserable and has been that way every since. It doesn't help that he won't take his advil or tylonol (spits it out every time). I feel so bad that he is so miserable. Teething tablets and origel offer tempory relief, but he would rather just nurse the day away and be held all day.

Not sleeping well

I'm not exactly sure whats causing it, but almost 2 weeks now Leiland has slept like crap. While in Hawaii I attributed it to that first tooth coming in but once it cane through he got drastically worse. Now that were home every night for the past week has been a struggle. One night he just screamed. Nothing I did made a difference either. He also ends up in my bed eventually every night as well because he won't let me out him down. He is so clingy and inconsolable. I hope it passes soon because he is so tired.
